Butterhead is a variety of head lettuce whose name derives from its soft, buttery leaves. It has a sweet flavor and a delicate texture. Its smooth or crinkled leaves fold together to form a loose head. The variety evolved from wild lettuce and it originated in America (Boston lettuce). Like all lettuces, it packs many health benefits due to the vitamins it contains but also thanks to the presence of chlorophyll that boosts the immune system.
