BARBA STATHIS TAKES INITIATIVE TO SUPPORT HOMELESS CITIZENS IN THESSALONIKI / FEBRUARY 2024

BARBA STATHIS is committed to standing with our fellow people in need. In collaboration with “Emfasis Non-Profit”, the company has taken active steps to aid homeless citizens in our community, contributing to the ongoing effort to reduce inequality and social exclusion. This initiative is part of the Volunteer Action Program “BARBA STATHIS: Together we do good."

BARBA STATHIS supports the 6th Fire Station of Thessaloniki / FEBRUARY 2024

BARBA STATHIS stands by the 6th Fire Station of Thessaloniki in Sindos, supporting the local communities where the company operates. By donating special equipment, the company contributes to the improvement of the operational planning of the Fire Department, creating multiple benefits throughout the region.

OVER 380.000 PORTIONS OF FOOD & SALAD DONATED BY BARBA STATHIS IN 2023 /

BARBA STATHIS supports those in need through the Social Responsibility program “We do good!”. By donating over 380,000 portions of food – including frozen vegetables, and fresh salads – the company contributed to 108 non-profit organizations throughout Greece, combating the phenomenon of food insecurity, especially in children.

CHRISTMAS CARDS & CORPORATE GIFTS FROM CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS / DECEMBER 2023

Yet another year, BARBA STATHIS joins forces with non-profit organizations that help people in need, by choosing to send out Christmas cards and corporate gifts made by charitable organizations. This year, the company supported the “ELEPAP” non-profit charity organization, “AMYMONI” association’s program for infants and children up to 6 years of age with visual impairment, as well as the "TOGETHER FOR CHILDREN" association, supporting vulnerable families with underage children who experience poverty and social exclusion.

BARBA STATHIS employees support a volunteering initiative at the Municipality of Thessaloniki Homeless Shelter / SEPTEMBER 2023

Under the umbrella of the "Together we do good!" Volunteer Program, BARBA STATHIS volunteers offered their assistance at the Municipality of Thessaloniki's Homeless Shelter.
Their contributions went a long way in significantly enhancing the shelter. They rejuvenated and added color to the common areas while also organizing and storing essential first-aid supplies in specialized equipment provided by the company for this purpose.

BARBA STATHIS PROVIDES SUPPORT TO THE FLOOD VICTIMS OF THESSALIA / SEPTEMBER 2023

Strongly committed to effectively help local communities, BARBA STATHIS contributes to the emergency needs of those affected by the recent catastrophic floods in Thessaly. The company offered significant financial support to the Non-Profit Organization "DESMOS", which in turn supported "Emfasis Non-Profit Foundation" to provide basic necessities as well as hygiene kits to the socially vulnerable groups in Volos. At the same time, the company contributed to local animal welfare associations in the affected areas, aiming to avoid an additional health crisis.

As part of the BARBA STATHIS volunteer program, "Together we do good!” a group of employees took part in an initiative to clean up a coastal area at the Axios Delta National Park in an effort to raise awareness about environmental issues and boost volunteering numbers among their colleagues. The specific initiative highlights the value of volunteerism and underlines the intention of BARBA STATHIS employees to contribute to their local community through various projects and an action plan. 

BARBA STATHIS and Prolepsis Institute research vegetable intake among children and adolescents / June 2023

BARBA STATHIS is collaborating with Prolepsis Institute with the goal of mapping the eating habits of children in Greece. At the heart of this joint effort is a vision to promote the nutritional value of vegetables, boost vegetable intake, and create healthy eating habits from the early stages of childhood.
 
The results from the research indicate that family and school play an active role as the core shapers of children's nutritional habits. At the same time, the impact of the social environment and the influence food companies can have through innovative commercial practices are equally significant.
 

BARBA STATHIS COMPLETED THE PRIMARY SCHOOL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM "TAKE A STEP TOWARDS HEALTHY EATING" FOR SCΗOOL YEAR 2022-2023 / JUNE 2023

During the school year 2022-2023, BARBA STATHIS launched the Primary School Educational Program "Take a step towards healthy eating", with the primary goal of promoting balanced dietary patterns to the new generation. Through this initiative, the company had the opportunity to show its commitment to consumers, helping to spread the nutritional value of vegetables to children, while at the same time opening up the discussion around the critical issue of food waste. The 2,340 students aged 5-12 years from all regions of the Central Macedonia, who visited the production unit and the "Freshness Street" site, accompanied by 245 teachers, parents or guardians, had the opportunity to learn useful information about the cultivation stages of agricultural production, as well as the nutritional value of vegetables and  the importance of food waste. 

EASTER CARD FROM THE “TOGETHER FOR CHILDREN” / APRIL 2023

This Easter, we joined forces with “Together for children” foundation through our corporate Easter card  which we shared with our stakeholders. Barba Stathis donated to further contribute to the organization’s essential work of supporting single-parent families of children in need.

BARBA STATHIS provides support to the earthquake victims / FEBRUARY 2023 

Following the effects of the devastating earthquakes that hit our neighbouring countries, together we supported our fellow people suffering in Turkey and Syria by offering basic necessities. In cooperation with the organization "Solidarity for All", the company's employees collected long-lasting food, sanitary products, and medical supplies for the affected, sending their own message of solidarity and support. In addition, they collected clothes for the donation drive organized by the City of Athens Homeless Shelter (KYADA). At the same time, the company reciprocated the generous act of its employees by offering financial support to the non-profit organization "DESMOS", which in turn supported Polat Group Holding and the 300 technicians and engineers, members of TUREB (Turkiye Wind Energy Association) working in the field. The donation will facilitate the procurement of essentials such as generators, a clean water system, blankets, and food.

BARBA STATHIS PARTICIPATES IN THE GREEK PLEDGE TO IMPROVE HOW FOOD IS ADVERTISED TO CHILDREN / JANUARY 2023

BARBA STATHIS has announced its participation in the Greek Pledge, a voluntary initiative to improve the way food and beverages are advertised to children. The company is joining forces with the Federation of Hellenic Food Industries (SEVT) and the Hellenic Advertisers Association (SDE) to renew its commitment to marketing to minors. This particular action falls within the framework of BARBA STATHIS' corporate responsibility strategy and is a reflection of the company’s responsible and consistent way of communicating with consumers, as well as its commitment to promoting balanced eating habits and nutritional standards that contribute to well-being.

BARBA STATHIS TAKES PART IN THE 18TH INTERNATIONAL MARATHON “ALEXANDER THE GREAT”/ APRIL 2024

BARBA STATHIS was present at the 18th International Marathon “ALEXANDER THE GREAT" - bwin, with its employees participating in the races held on Sunday, April 21th, 2024. The International Marathon “ALEXANDER THE GREAT" is the leading sporting event for Northern Greece, with social, cultural and historical significance. Τhe company provides its support to amateur sports and the local community while, at the same time, strengthening the relationships of the employees who form the dynamic BARBA STATHIS running team.

BARBA STATHIS employees’ Union blood drive / MARCH 2024

The blood drive organized by the BARBA STATHI employees' union at the company's facilities in Sindos, was completed with great response, supporting for one more year the union's blood bank, which has continuously covered the needs of our fellow citizens in recent years.

BARBA STATHIS grants scholarships for studies at the American Farm School to children of its contract farmers/ January 2024

BARBA STATHIS is proud to announce its active commitment to fostering the next generation of farmers by granting two full two-year scholarships to the American Farm School's Vocational High School for the children of our partner producers. To encourage the active participation of young people in the country's primary sector, BARBA STATHIS will cover tuition, accommodation, and meal costs for two students from the families of contract producers.

BARBA STATHIS introduces Career Guidance Program for employees and their children / DECEMBER 2023

As part of its commitment to support employees and meet their needs, BARBA STATHIS has initiated a Career Guidance Program in collaboration with specialized career counselors. This program is tailored for both employees and their children.
The company provided employee parents and their children of high school age with a comprehensive career orientation program in partnership with expert career counselors. This initiative aims to inform and assist individuals in making informed decisions about their future.

BARBA STATHIS Organizes Health Awareness Workshop on Prostate Cancer / NOVEMBER 2023

In collaboration with the Hellenic Urological Society, BARBA STATHIS conducted a series of informative workshops on prostate cancer for both male and female employees.
Specialist doctors and urological surgeons visited the company's facilities in Sindos, highlighting the significance of obtaining valid, timely, and reliable information on urological diseases. With the participation of employees from all the company's facilities, the discussion centered around prostate cancer, addressing the specifics of the condition, the importance of prevention, and the available treatment options.

BARBA STATHIS celebrates World Food Day with an employee workshop /
October 2023

To mark the occasion of World Food Day, BARBA STATHIS organized an employee workshop on its premises in collaboration with specialized dietician Niki Athanasiadou from “Food Method”. The core theme of the workshop revolved around balanced nutrition. Participants received information about the nutritional value of various foods, along with insights into ingredient combinations that can enhance their concentration and work performance. 

Bone Marrow Donation AWARENESS DAY BY BARBA STATHIS / SEPTEMBER 2023

BARBA STATHIS, in collaboration with the association "Orama Elpidas", organized an informative workshop for employees on the topic of bone marrow donation.
Emphasizing the importance of solidarity, volunteers from the association visited the company's plant in Thessaloniki to raise awareness on the issue of voluntary donation of hematopoietic cells and the importance of offering them to a patient in need of a transplant. The response of the participants was touching, as after the informative session, many rushed to register in the Volunteer Bone Marrow Donor network by contributing their sample.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDIES AT THE AMERICAN FARM SCHOOL’S VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL / JUNE 2023

In active support of the primary sector of production in Greece, and in honor of the relationship of mutual trust that BARBA STATHIS shares with its collaborating producers, the company announces the addition of 2 new full scholarships to the Vocational High School program at the American Farm School in Thessaloniki. The 2-year scholarships will go to students from families of collaborating producers, and will fully cover tuition fees, as well as the beneficiaries’ cost of food and board for the duration of their studies. With the continuation of this initiative, now in its third year, as well as the specialized training seminars BARBA STATHIS regularly organizes for its collaborating producers, the company states its clear intent to support young people who wish to be a part of the country’s primary production and agri-food sector, in any way possible.

BARBA STATHIS EMPLOYEES PARTICIPATE IN ORGANMEETINGS / ΜΑΥ 2023

BARBA STATHIS offered its employees the opportunity to take part in Organmeetings, the new informational program on organ donation and transplantation, organized on Wednesday, May 24th, under the scientific auspices of the Hellenic Transplant Organization (EOM) and with the support of the Onassis Foundation. With a focus on the health of its employees, the company took the initiative to participate in interactive, educational seminars aimed at providing comprehensive information on organ donation, the institutional framework, and the debunking of prevailing myths in Greek society.

Road Safety Training Seminar by BARBA STATHIS / MAY 2023

In honor of International Road Safety Week, BARBA STATHIS collaborated with the Road Safety Institute "Panos Mylonas” and organized a training seminar for its drivers in Athens and Thessaloniki to raise awareness for road safety and the avoidance of traffic accidents.The professional drivers were provided with information about the basic principles of road risk prevention and given time to discuss safe driving. The drivers also participated in experiential workshops using advanced state-of-the-art simulators. Through this initiative, BARBA STATHIS aims to inform, educate and raise awareness among its partner drivers to prevent and reduce traffic accidents. Out of respect for its people, the company organizes programs and actions that can help ensure the health and safety of its employees, as well as safeguard society as a whole.

For yet another year, BARBA STATHIS was present at the 17th International Marathon “ALEXANDER THE GREAT" - bwin, with its employees participating in the races held on Sunday, April 30th, 2023. The International Marathon “ALEXANDER THE GREAT" is the leading sporting event for Northern Greece, with social, cultural and historical significance. Through the participation of its employees, the company provides its support to amateur sports and the local community while, at the same time, strengthening the relationships of the employees who form the dynamic BARBA STATHIS running team.

BARBA STATHIS BLOOD DRIVE / APRIL 2023

The blood drive organized by the BARBA STATHIS employees' union at the company's facilities in Sindos was successfully completed with significant participation. The volunteers supported the Blood Bank of our employees Union, which in its years of operation and in difficult times, has stood by many of our fellow men, in an act of solidarity.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS DAY BY BARBA STATHIS / MARCH 2023

In cooperation with the Association of Women with Breast Cancer of Thessaloniki "Alma Zois", BARBA STATHIS organized a series of informative workshops for female employees on the topic of women's cancer. BARBA STATHIS consistently invests in its people and demonstrates its commitment to their health, safety, and well-being through health-related awareness days and activities.

NEW TRAINING PROGRAM FOR BARBA STATHIS CONTRACT FARMERS IN COLLABORATION WITH THE AMERICAN FARM SCHOOL / MARCH 2023

With the aim of strengthening the primary sector, BARBA STATHIS organized a series of specialized training courses, for the third consecutive year and in collaboration with the American Farm School of Thessaloniki, for the company's contract producers on the sustainable fertilization of vegetables. The program was carried out in the company's principal cultivation areas with the participation of producers from Halki, Nea Apollonia, Evropos, and Amyndeo in Florina, under the guidance of the Agricultural Department of BARBA STATHIS in collaboration with the staff of the Lifelong Learning Department of the American Farm School.

BARBA STATHIS maintains close working relationships with its suppliers in recognition of their substantial contribution to the quality and safety of the company's products and services. Aiming to inform suppliers on sustainable development issues that affect the entire supply chain, the company successfully held the first digital training seminar for partner suppliers, entitled "Supplier Awareness on Sustainable Development”, in collaboration with PwC, the leading ESG consultancy firm in Greece.
