BARBA STATHIS Participates in the “Corporate Responsibility in Action” Conference
BARBA STATHIS took part in this year’s “Corporate Responsibility in Action – Changing the World, One Collaboration at a Time” conference, an event that highlights best practices shaping the future of responsible entrepreneurship. The company, a long standing investor in sustainable agri food practices, presented its successful “Little Farmers” program. Developed in partnership with Open Farm, the initiative focuses on the next generation—bringing students closer to the land, to knowledge, and to hands on learning.
Through the program, and as part of its corporate responsibility and mission to promote the nutritional value of vegetables, BARBA STATHIS supports the creation of school vegetable gardens in elementary schools. These gardens transform schoolyards into vibrant, living laboratories for environmental education. With guidance from Open Farm’s team of agronomists, students learn how vegetables are grown, why they matter in a healthy diet, and how cultivation practices connect to environmental protection. At the same time, through experiential workshops, young participants explore concepts such as biodiversity, soil regeneration, and the importance of balanced nutrition.
“Through the “Little Farmers” educational program, we are investing in the next generation by offering knowledge and a deeper connection to the natural environment. Since May 2025, more than 500 students and 70 educators have actively participated, learning about the nutritional value of vegetables while developing environmental awareness, teamwork, and responsibility. The program continues to expand, aiming to reach even more schools across the country, including Athens in the coming months!” said Katerina Makridou Oraiopoulou, ESG & Corporate Communication Director at BARBA STATHIS.
“With the “Little Farmers” program, we are taking another meaningful step toward bringing children closer to the land and to sustainable agri food practices. Our collaboration with BARBA STATHIS shows how practical action and pedagogy can join forces to inspire young people,” noted Panos Papadopoulos, founding member of Open Farm.
