Advancing Climate Neutrality: BARBA STATHIS’ 2024 Progress on SBTi Aligned Emissions Targets
BARBA STATHIS, recognizing the critical importance of climate neutrality and acting as a responsible corporate citizen, has adopted a coherent, long-term strategy to reduce emissions and transition to a more sustainable operating model. As part of this strategy, in 2021 the company’s science-based targets were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), setting science-based targets for Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions.
Within this framework, 2024 marked a year of progress toward our commitments. The actions implemented strengthened our trajectory toward a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030, achieved through improved energy efficiency and expanded use of clean energy. These measures primarily reduced emissions associated with electricity and stationary combustion. In 2024, we reduced Scope 2 emissions by 3.6% compared to 2021, while decreasing natural gas consumption by 9.1% over the same period. In parallel, for Scope 3, we significantly enhanced collaboration with suppliers and partners, supporting the phased achievement of the 25% reduction target. Targeted interventions were also implemented for FLAG (Forest, Land and Agriculture) emissions, fully aligned with the corresponding 30% reduction target. Overall, our 2024 performance confirms the company’s steady and measurable progress toward its SBTi-validated targets."
